Motion Picture Studio Directory & Trade Annual

Can anyone confirm that the biographies and credits included therein were always submitted by the individuals themselves rather than compiled by the staff? I found a form for submission in the back of the 1918 edition, but a quick perusal (perhaps too quick) of the 1916 edition did not reveal a form. I'm posing the question because i've found a few film credits that came as a surprise in the 1916 edition, so I'd like to confirm that they are trustworthy. Thanks.

What were the surprising credits?

Well, I'm working from memory here, but Gertrude Selby was credited with being in SIN ON THE SABBATH (12/08/1915) which I've seen twice and starred Louise Orth and Alice Howell, but I don't recall having seen Selby in it, nor have I ever seen her credited for this film anywhere else. And Universal Weekly almost always gave her name for films she was in.
As for Alice Howell, she's credited with WHERE IS MY HUSBAND? (08/02/1916), but I've never found her credited for this film, and even IMDb doesn't have her (not that I'd trust them for reliable accuracy). Also, HIS TEMPER-MENTAL MOTHER-IN-LAW (08/16/1916), for which I haven't found any contempary mentions of Howell, either, but IMDb shows her as being in it and, far more trustworthy, I have it in my files that Massa has said she was in it.
So, the first two mentions are the primary reasons for my question, or at least the ones I can dredge up from memory.

Well, I have a print of SIN ON THE SABBATH, and I don't remember seeing Gertrude Selby in it either, but if these credits were listed by the actors themselves, it could mean she worked on it and was cut for some reason. I'd go with Massa on HIS TEMPER-MENTAL MOTHER-IN-LAW.
