It was nice to see Mabel out from under the yoke of Sennett and not having to play a kitchen drudge or a Cinderella for once. She is very entertaining in the early scenes as a newspaper working woman -- although we never actually see her working. She's too busy playing craps and goofing off. I'm not sure why she was so surprised by being fired. Heinie Conklin could have seen that coming. I also liked how she strutted around after getting her job back. She could be a very resourceful comedian when she had to be.
