Cine art original films

I was researching some early sound technology for someone at my new job at USC (there is some great silent stuff there on 16mm)and came across some interesting items in International Photographer Magazine. Here is one about an original straight to 16mm short featuring Jimmie Adams and Bud Jamison... I always thought these little 100 foot shorts were clipped from longer ones...Did other companies make original work like this as well? Doesn't that open up a can of worms in terms of filmographies if it is true?

Very cool, Dino. What was the date of that issue of International Photographer? Jimmie Adams and Bud Jamison appeared in a couple of entries in a "Rolling Stones" series that was released by Tiffany. A review of THE ROLLING STONE in a September 1930 issue of Motion Picture News states that the film was filmed in Multicolor, and consisted of Adams and Jamison as two prospectors trading wisecracks while the camera films scenery of mountains. The TWO SONS film looks more like a typical - if not politically correct - comedy short.

As I recall, Jimmie Adams did some musical shorts with a quartet in this series as well. The Ranch Boys was it? Something like the group he sings with in the Charley Chase shorts like HIGH C'S and ROUGH SEAS.

Could the man on the right be Phil Dunham? He looks to me like a silent comedy vet in normal make-up.

The article was in the March 1931 issue...They also had a photo of the Masquers putting the Keystone Kops back together I'll have to upload.

That would have been for STOUT HEARTS AND WILLING HANDS (1931). Is there a story with the photo? An image exists of Arbuckle on the set, and while he is not credited in the film, there is a strong possibility that he served as an advisor or gag writer. Would like to know more about the production.

Paul here is the picture of the Kops from the Masquers short, also the 1912 photo that is referenced....I'm sure you have checked this but just in case I searched through the Masquers 1975 50th anniversary book and there was no mention of Arbuckle in reference to "stout" there was a piece about him appearing in one of their live shows in 1925 but that was it. I checked the holdings at my new job at USC and we didn't have the film, but we did have BRIDE'S BEREAVEMENT (aka The Snake in the Grass) and TWO LIPS AND JULEPS that aren't on the Encore set.

OH and I'm thinking the guy to the right in the Jimmie Adams photo is James Gleason.
