Here's that rarity: a pretty good Mack Sennett talkie, all things being relative of course. Released December 7, 1930, directed by William Beaudine, who actually knew how to pace a talkie, and featuring Harry Gribbon, Yola D'Avril, Patsy O'Leary, Emma Tansey and George Pearce :

This was really enjoyable. Harry Gribbon is usually fun to watch. The singing ducks was a good gag, and it was nice to see Barney Hellum as one of the off-screen musicians. The Jolson reference reminded me of the story (perhaps apocryphal) of someone (possibly Vernon Dent) whistling or humming a song in an early Sennett talkie, which resulted in Sennett having to pay royalties.
