Two Fox and One Century Comedy

Postby Richard M Roberts » Thu Sep 19, 2013 5:22 am

Ahhh, the goodies one runs into on YouTube: First up, is a French print of THE LYIN' TAMER (Fox 1926) with Ernie Shields and Harry Woods:

Next up is NAPOLEON JR (Fox 1926) with Jerry Madden, Frank Coleman, and Pal the Dog:

And finally, THE SPEED BOYS (Century-Universal 1924) with Spec O'Donnell, Arthur Trimble, and the Century Kids:

Enjoy!

Thanks RR.
Love ANY comedy with lions running around.
Oh and just so you know, the Jerry Madden is NAPOLEON JR. ('cos I have it)...

Ah well, it was that 50-50 shot, it had to be one or the other. I knew it wasn't JERRY THE GIANT, cos I've got a print on that one. Fixed.

THE LYIN' TAMER is very funny. Can't go wrong when lions are chasing comedians around. When the flood waters carry the house to the edge of the cliff giving us a tilted view inside where the comedians are off-balance was fantastic. Great sight gag comedy going on.

I thought I'd post this link to John Bengstons website where he talks about the Venice Miniature Railroad used in the Century Comedy THE SPEED BOYS. Another neat thing long gone from an era where neat things were prevalent. Though I'd bet if you lived in a neighborhood where a miniature steam train came by every day and belched cinders on your lawn it wouldn't have been as neat as we who look at it now in hindsight might think it was.

Running Amok Among Lions could very well be a new segment at Slapsticon.
I'm sure enough examples exist to fill an afternoon's viewing.
