Ahm, is it just me, or does that look more like Paul Parrott than Charley Chase? And that's definitely Marvin Loback next to Kalla Pasha in that one shot.

Yep Richard, Marvin's in it, and so is Bobby Dunn!!
What a cast!
This is a real curio.
I'm now going with the Paul Parrott theory too, 'cos the plot doesn't go with the Chase style at all.
It's much more of a Parrott film.

Yeah I agree, looking at the screen caps, it's definitely not CHASING HUSBANDS and on second look it does seem to be Paul Parrott. You can see Charley sans mustache in POWDER AND SMOKE and this looks more like Paul Parrott rather than Charles Parrott....

Hi guys
This looks like it's the first reel of A DEEP SEA PANIC (FOX 9/28/1924). MoMA has the second reel (which is set on a ship) and Ben Model, Ron Magliozzi and I have shown it in our "Cruel and Unusual Comedy" screenings. It has the same cast (the girl is Mildred June, and the skinny guy with the red nose is Bobby Burns), and the outfits that Mildred and Paul wear in David's first scan is how they're dressed in the MoMA footage. It looks like after Roach ended Paul's starring series he went over to a Fox and headlined in a few like this, SWEET PAPA ('24) and MASKED MARVEL ('24).

Whoo hoo!
Thanks Mr Massa Man.
I thought you'd come through with the result.
Sorry to get your hopes up Yair!

One last word.... I think this may be reel two and not reel one.
The reel ends up with Kalla being blown up in a street and then iris in.
Definately looks like a final "the end" to me.
Maybe we should try and get both reels to meet up at some point and have lunch...

Thanks again.
Have a jolly day.

Hi David
Not sure which reel would be which. The MoMA reel ends with the ship (and presumably Kalla Pasha and the rest of the cast) being blow to smithereens, leaving Mildred and Paul navigating on a comically small bit of the ship.

It would be good for the footage to be rejoined. I'll mention it at MoMA and see if there's a response.
