Just saw this coming from the Edition Filmmuseum:

Image
57 Female Comedy Teams Hal Roach, 1929-1935

Image
58 Max Davidson Comedies Leo McCarey, 1927-1928

Here is the link: http://www.edition-filmmuseum.com/produ ... f7605354e3

I have bought some DVD's from this company before, the transfers are usually excellent, they use the original country's title cards (and you can turn off other languages), and they are region free!!!

Please post any further details that you get.

Do they post a list of shorts on the discs?
When can we order?
How much do they cost?
Do I have to order straingth from that source, or do AMerican on-line retailers carry them?

When can we get them? Oh, just to have a copy of "Pass the Gravy" !!!

If you go to the website, their status listed as "In Preparation". There are one or two Max Davidsons held in European archives that will be new to our eyes, if Edition Filmmuseum's promise of "All the surviving two-reelers" pans out. "Feed 'Em and Weep" and "Going Ga-Ga" could be on either or both sets. If EF can has a deal to release the Roach/MGM talkies and silents in Europe, can a Charley Chase set be in our future? Just askin'.

Yeah, I saw that "All the surviving two-reelers" as I was hoping to see that surviving one reel of "Came The Dawn" that Dick Bann brought to Cinefest in 2007 again.

BTW, does anyone have a list of what survives, in any form, for the Max Davidson silent Hal Roach 2 reelers?

It looks like IMDB lists about 25 Max Davidsons in that period ( subtracting of course the bit part in the feature "My Best Girl").

Oh, there are so many wonderful titles in this timeframe! I do hope that they have them all. There are several that I ahve really wanted to see. I just love the Davidson shorts.
Any details that come out, please share.
