SHERLOCK MOANS (?) Herbert Pattee Mystery Film

Postby Richard M Roberts » Tue May 18, 2021 8:46 am

Here's a bit of a mystery film, comedy short, actual title unknown, late-teens I'd say, and the only billed actor is Herbert Pattee, who was a character actor in East Coast films (which this appears to be) in the late teens/early 20's:

Anyone have any other ideas?

Apparently Dr. Robert Kiss had identified this film as another Charlie Joy comedy from 1921, possibly SALOME VS PROHIBITION, Joy (real name Charles Gramlich) plays the hero in the straw hat, Kiss said it could also be SEEPING ROMANCE (4/14/1921), A BARREL OF TROUBLE (7/23/1921) or CHEESE (8/8/1921), as these are very obscure Miami-shot comedies that were distributed by Aywon Film Corp, the same wonderful state-righter that brought you the Jimmy Callahan classics.

The other surviving Charlie Joy comedy is the painful WHEN QUACKEL DID HYDE, which gives his namesake Al Joy a run for the money in the unfunny department.
