Dickie Moore RIP

Postby Richard M Roberts » Fri Sep 11, 2015 2:23 am

Now apparently Dickie Moore has passed away at the age of 89. Two Our Gangers in a week!

He was also married to Jane Powell these last few decades, they had met when he wrote his book about child actors.

His book is an entertaining read. Moore wrote of being so use to signing autographs as a kid that he signed his mother's b-day card, "From your good friend Dickie Moore".

Even though he only appeared in eight of the Our Gang shorts, they made an impression. One of my earliest memories of the series is Stymie wrenching Dickie's stiff neck into the correct position in FREE WHEELING, fixing it in the process. I also prefer Moore's OLIVER TWIST (1933) to later versions, though I'm usually alone in that fan club.
