CineMuseum's Upcoming ARBUCKLE ANTHOLOGY

Postby Gary Johnson » Thu Aug 27, 2015 10:00 pm

Since Mr. Gierucki was finally cleared over on FB to spill the beans on their latest project, Arbuckle's surviving feature films, I thought Mr. Roberts
could chime in and clue in everyone on the nitty-gritty of it all.

I'll leave that to Mr. Gierucki.

Sorry, folks, I should have posted the information here first!

Image

CineMuseum has been collaborating with Paramount Pictures, Turner Entertainment, and the Library of Congress, to reconstruct, restore, and release Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle's long unavailable feature length films -- THE ROUND UP (1920), THE LIFE OF THE PARTY (1920), and LEAP YEAR (1921), as part of THE ARBUCKLE ANTHOLOGY. The best 35mm preservation elements for these films are currently being scanned in 4K, undergoing careful reconstruction and a gentle clean up. These features, and other exciting new film discoveries, will sport brand new scores from composers Donald Sosin, Dennis Scott, and Rodney Sauer. The producers are deeply indebted to the wonderful people at Paramount, TCM, LOC, as well as the IndieGoGo supporters, and so many others. The Anthology DVD / Blu-ray collection is the culmination of an extraordinary amount of work, organization, and tremendous generosity on the part of many, many people. No release date yet, but people attending Cinecon or the the annual Buster Keaton Society gathering will be able to catch a sneak preview, and check your local listings for world premiere airings on TCM this October. More details here as they are available.

THE LIFE OF THE PARTY was shown at one of the Slapsticon's with Czech titles, right?

Paul...

Is your above illustration the actual and original opening title card?

Or is it a recreation (or a very cleaned up original card)?

It is a frame grab of the original opening title from the 35mm dupe negative, Steve. The film has similarly beautiful art cards throughout.
