Sad news on our own community's thinning ranks. Film Historian and Mabel Normand Scholar William Thomas Sherman passed away in his sleep from natural causes. He was one of the earliest and most effective researcher on Mabel Normand and his book, MABEL NORMAND A SOURCE BOOK TO HER LIFE AND FILMS, went through at least eight revised editions. He put up one of his editions up on Internet Archive:

Sorry to hear this. Even before the Kindle era, Sherman was uploading PDF's of the latest edition of his Mabel Normand Sourcebook for anyone to download for free. He never stopped revising and updating it as he found new information. A generous scholar, you can bet that any "new" biography of Mabel was built on the foundation of his work.
