Carringer has passed away at the age of 81, he wrote two terrific books, one that separated the myth from the production of CITIZEN KANE and one that gave us a real reconstruction of THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSON, annotating the full script and giving us many wonderful still of deleted scenes from the film:
