James Karen RIP

No one lives forever -- except, perhaps, Shirley MacLaine. This is where we ring down the final curtain for Filmdom's finest.

James Karen RIP

Postby Richard M Roberts » Thu Oct 25, 2018 4:13 am

James Karen sadly has passed away at the age of 94, a great, busy character actor, known to many in our group as a friend of Buster Keaton's who appeared with him on stage and in Samuel Beckett's FILM. He was also a wonderful raconteur and had great memories of so many actors with whom he worked.

Mark Evanier posted this video of James and his wife visiting Hal Holbrook backstage at a performance of MARK TWAIN TONIGHT in 2014 that is simply charming:

Rest in Peace Jimmy.

And of course, Leonard Maltin has written a wonderful tribute:

Being from New Jersey, I fondly think of him as "Mr. Pathmark". He hosted a wonderful doc about Keaton on the TCM archive box set of his first three MGM films.
