JAPANESE BOWL (1930) vitaphone short

Postby DickLindsay » Sat Jan 14, 2017 7:32 pm

Hello,

Does anyone know additional info about this film? I have these two terrific original stills, but the information I can find is that it was directed by Jack Haskell. Is there more information available? (and, aren't they neat photos!) thanks!

" It's the sad story of the ill-fated love affair between the Japanese girl and her lover, with papa frowning on the match, etc, etc. All Technicolor and pleasing in a mild way. Won't elicit cheers or groans. An indifferent short for indifferent audiences. Running time: 8 minutes.

(sound cartoons or straight comedies necessary for surrounding shorts)"

MOTION PICTURE NEWS review June 14, 1930 pg 88.

No name stars listed.

Check over at the Vitaphone Project. Ron Hutchinson has a list of what exists. Being early 30's Technicolor there's a good possibility it doesn't but it may exist in B&W.
