Laurel & Hardy Creative Journalism

I coulda swore there was a post that quoted Stan Laurel in France 1950 about the rough treatment Harry Langdon recieved by Hollywood. When I put Stan Laurel, Harry Langdon, France, Atoll K, the search turned up nothing. Anyhoo, if you can remember the gist of the post it was about how the French pri...

Re: CAMERA Comedy Clippings, January 20, 1923

It seems Jimmie was really jumping around in the early 20's. There is a credit for Jimmie in the Universal comedy VAMPED (Mar 1923) and I had assumed it was held over from 1921 when he was appearing with Lee Moran and directing for Universal. I don't know why this article says Jimmie signed with Ste...

Re: Contacting actors - need help

I found a L.A. phonebook in the Denver Public Library back in 1975 and found Hal Roach's number in it. I called him and to my great delight he talked to me for about 20 minutes. I asked the stupidest questions (when was Charley Chase born?) but he was so patient and I really felt special for a long ...

Re: Buster sells "Rilly Shave"

I have the INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH and boy is my face red. I distincly remember Buster doing a commercial for a gas station (the endless hose) but I thought it was for another oil company.

Re: Buster sells "Rilly Shave"

I wish I had an answer for you Chris, but I don't and I hope you don't mind if I use your post to ask a similar question: Can anyone confirm or deny if Buster was a schill for Sinclair/Shamrock gas stations? My Dad says that he did but I cannot find anything to confirm this.

Banks-mania Grips the Nation

Speaking of locomotives, I have posted an excerpt from Monty Banks' HORSE SHOES (1927)on You Tube. This film was a blueprint for Keaton's PARDON MY BERTH MARKS. CLyde Bruckman was involved in both films. You can also catch Harry Bowen looking like Emo Phillips and all of the action takes place on th...

Need ID for LOOK OUT BELOW (1929)

I wish to know the name of the chap pictured here. I know I have seen him before but I can't seem to connect him. These grabs are from the Educational short LOOK OUT BELOW (1929) where this fellow plays Thelma Todd's jealous husband. Thanks in advance. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v162/Tommie61...

Re: CAMERA Comedy Clippings, January 20, 1923

It seems this Thomas Hicks is very likely Tommy Hicks, the Educational fat boy. The story I heard was that Hicks was a neighbor of Jack White and White gave the boy work to help the family earn. However, the story I heard was that Hicks, Sr. had been killed. Joe, these are gold, keep 'em coming. Pos...

Re: C.L. Chester's ROARS AND UPROARS

I opine that this film was originally a Universal and for some reason was not released by Universal but sold to Chester. A friend of mine has seen a Universal lion comedy from 1921that takes place in the same lobby with the same signs on the wall.
