Re: Ten Years of Silent Comedy Mafia.com

Happy Anniversary Richard, Rob, Paul, Rob and all my fellow Mafioso (Mafiosi?). I'm delighted to be part of the fun, and honored to have achieved the rank of Cugine. SCM has been an opportunity for me to make some new acquaintances and learn a lot. I especially appreciated the heads up on all kinds ...

Re: The Differences Between Mathew "Tijuana" Jones and Spencer Williams

I'd say, based on the top and bottom pics, there's considerable difference, so a mix up is a bit hard to understand. Also, I tend to think Williams was a bit more prolific, having directed some "race" films, as well as playing Andy Brown on tv.

Re: THE MACK SENNETT COLLECTION Volume Two

Wonderful! Not matter what changes between now and the release date, this will be an astounding "sequel".

Re: Caveat emptor: Cohen Media's SEVEN CHANCES

I don't mean to be snide, but calling this a "restoration" is like calling "The Old Oaken Bucket" Grand Opera, to steal an old comparison.

For me, his finest moment is narrating "The Shifting, Whispering Sands" (Billy Vaughn version).

Re: James Karen RIP

Being from New Jersey, I fondly think of him as "Mr. Pathmark". He hosted a wonderful doc about Keaton on the TCM archive box set of his first three MGM films.

Re: Well blow me down with an anchovy.

Like 99% of the SCM, I'm probably approaching this film with some reservations. That being said, I'm glad they did pick two good actors. I'm hoping this will be a thoughtful tribute like CHAPLIN. I'm a bit skeptical about the bickering scenes - I've never read of any disputes between them, as the co...

Oddly enough, no relation to Freddy Morgan, who also played banjo for Spike Jones. Glug!

Re: Here's a really stupid article about silent films

Wow...just, wow. This is maddeningly contradictory and ill-informed all at once. Where do I begin? I don't argue that every missing film is a lost classic. There's a lot of extant junk out there. Also, the standards of box office and, God help us, AMPAS awards recognition, are hardly indicative of q...

This is not an offering, which can be made by prospectus only. Your mileage may vary. but certainly a safer investment than Beanie Babies.
