Re: C.K. Comedies question
Hmm, even with the poor reproduction of the photo, the nose on Helen Carruthers is much wider, her face is much rounder, eyes are wider set, and the mouth is different than the actress in LAUGHING GAS. The actress in LAUGHING GAS may be Peggy Paige, but I'm not convinced that Peggy Paige is Helen Ca...

Re: C.K. Comedies question
Definitely a question for Pokes and Jabbs expert Rob Stone, but I've only seen one Kriterion release, THE MISSING HEIR (1915) extant in all the years I've been looking at old film. Kriterion barely lasted nine months and most of those firm folded within that year even if they found different distrib...

CORDS AND DISCHORDS (1927) Fred Parker Comedy
Here's an obscurity, one of Fred Parker's blackface comedies he made for Producer William Pizor in 1927-28. Even the Weiss Brothers thought Pizor was cheap. Be warned, PC goes out the window on this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DYNC5VOPAQ Obviously an old Mar-Lu Television print. RICHARD M R...

Re: Richard M.Roberts Banned from Nitrateville
Gee, I sorta feel obligated to keep this thread going, since it seems to still beat records for hits on our site, though we know it’s just Nitratevilians checking to see if their names (or more likely, non-de-plumes) are mentioned. It is getting harder as it is really pretty damned boring over there...

Re: Cinevent Notes Past: THE WEDDING MARCH
For me, Stroheim's talent (and his entertainment value) comes to the fore in the dozens of cheap B features he appeared in, mostly in France but also the U.S. and elsewhere. No longer in control as director/producer and in need of quick money, Stroheim thought on his feet and enriched many of these...

Re: The Spy (1929)
Oddly enough Chris, UCLA has soundtrack negative on THE SPY, but no picture material in the Paramount Collection, but it may indeed exist on 16mm out there in the old NTA package.

Re: The Spy (1929)
what more do you want to know? I id'ed that still you had a few years ago. It's an early Paramount talkie short from 1929. RICHARD M ROBERTS Don't know why this didn't post before, but I'll try again: not me boss (though I would be interested in who *does* have a still from this and why.) I guess i...
