Re: Silent Shorts With Holiday themes
Not that it's "ha ha" funny, but the Griffith Biograph comedy THE CHRISTMAS BURGLARS (1908) with Florence Lawrence, Charles Inslee and Mack Sennett.

Re: Chaplin Time Traveler?
I'll repeat what I said earlier last week when this was going around on Facebook (and is also one of the things Richard mentions): nowadays it's hard to tell the difference between people walking down the street talking to themselves, and people talking on cell phones. There were no cell phones then...

Re: One Fine Stooge
Chris--allow me translate your statement into Stroke of Luck grammar: I, couldn't agree, more,...A STROKE OF LUCK, is a fiasco, on so many level, this book, more than makes up, for it, with literally, hundreds, of pictures, a wealth, of new, information, and, a respectful tone, that's missing, from ...

French Comedians at Pordenone
I just returned from attending my first Pordenone Silent Film Festival (great to see and hang out again with you, Uli!), which provided a great program of early French comedies in beautiful 35mm prints. My observations: probably stating the obvious, but Max Linder (represented by only 2-3 comedies t...

Re: Katherine Grant
Excellent work Bill! There's a lot of euphemistic language in the various period articles (and her mother's comments) that make it appear that there was something else not mentioned that was being covering up.

Re: Essanay 1910 comedies - help identifying actors
I think it looks like Kerrigan as well, as David suggested. And if you do talk to David Kiehn, I'm pretty sure he'll be able to ID a good number of the people, including obscure players.

Re: Mabel's Blunder - Who is Mabel's Brother?
To me, the nose is very different, and some other features (such as hair) aren't visible due to the hat. It could indeed be her ( I originally mentioned her because she was the closest thing I've seen, and still is), I just can't say for sure myself until another photo or film is found. I did a lot ...

Re: Mabel's Blunder - Who is Mabel's Brother?
Phil, I've tried for quite a while before the book came out to ID Mabel's brother, but he's somebody I've never seen before and have no good guesses (other than being 100% sure it's not Al St. John). By the way, I still can't say conclusively myself (and I also know Bo Berglund can't) that the woman...
