Re: Need info on "Help Yourself" (1927) NOW WITH PICTURES
There are four other titles produced by W.R. Wilkerson and released in New York by the Big Three Exchange, which were reviewed by the New York Motion Picture Division in 1928, and cleared for showing in New York: A GOOD DEBT, HIS MOMENT, A NIGHT WATCHMAN, and THE SINGER. These are at least candidate...

Motography
Some years ago, someone in the greater Silent Comedy Mafia community (I do not recall who) told me that they had copies of all of the Film Release Listings from the publication run of Motography . Or maybe they said someone else had the copies. In any event, if you who have this material is out ther...

Re: Langdon Talkies Sought
And let me throw a related question onto Michael's. In 1933-34, Paramount released some interesting two reel comedies. Besides the Langdon films, Arvid Gillstrom produced two each with Bing Crosby and Leon Errol. Phil Ryan produced another group directed by Del Lord starring an impressive group of c...

Could the man on the right be Phil Dunham? He looks to me like a silent comedy vet in normal make-up.

Re: Cine art original films
Very cool, Dino. What was the date of that issue of International Photographer ? Jimmie Adams and Bud Jamison appeared in a couple of entries in a "Rolling Stones" series that was released by Tiffany. A review of THE ROLLING STONE in a September 1930 issue of Motion Picture News states tha...

Re: Searching for Info on Silent Film Company
There was also a Pyramid Studio, on Mill Road in Astoria, Long Island, where the ever-popular Al Joy filmed at least some of his comedies in 1926.

Re: Last Serial w/ Al St John
This short was reconstructed for THE FORGOTTEN FILMS OF ROSCOE "FATTY" ARBUCKLE set. Newspaper reviews, trade ads, the original studio pressbook, and various other materials were utilized to return the surviving material to its original form. If I recall correctly, the press materials did...

Re: Fatty Layman and Charles Dorety
If the 1928 date in this article is correct, this was the second go-round for Dorety and Layman/Laymon. In 1926 or thereabouts, they appeared in a series of Two-Star Comedies produced at the Estee Studios, in New York City. In a handful of mentions in the trade press, the Film Daily Yearbook and oth...

Re: May '29 Release Chart for the Research Geeks
If I'm not mistaken, the trade press published very little in the way of information on titles and release dates that the producers or distributors did not send them in the first place. By the late twenties, press coverage of the comedies distributed via the states rights system had gotten very spot...
