Re: Shemp Slapped Jimmy Stewart Around?
I gotta admit that when I listened to Ron Hutchinson talk about Shemp Howard slapping Jimmy Stewart around in a Vitaphone short on his recent Leonard Lopate show appearance , I thought he was mistakenly converging the tame and kinda boring Chic Sale vehicle "Important News" with a Shemp s...

Re: George Jessel?
Now you know how I felt about Raymond Griffith... I also think Eddie Cantor's 1924 sound short bought silent comedy three more years. Yeah, but Raymond Griffith was actually good, and a number of folk feel that way. Who likes George Jessel? Where that obsessed Jessel collector out there? Speak out....

Okay SiCom Mafians, this Godfather is doing a bit of research and wants to pick your brains on a particular subject that has amazed and mystified this writer since he was a kid. here's the question: What the hell's the deal with George Jessel? I mean, I know there are El Brendel fans,Ben Blue comes ...

Re: Film Flashes: Wit & Wisdom of a Nation (Judge, 1916)
Thanks Rob. Now I don't have to scan anymore. Although some of the color plates in my edition are different than the color plates in the archive.org volume. Another interesting factor is Linda Arvidson Griffith's recollections of Biograph written a full decade before the publication of her book in ...

Re: Unidentified Ham and Bud photo
I think this is from HAM TAKES A CHANCE (Feb 15, 1916), but it could also be from GHOST HOUNDS (Feb 6, 1917).

Re: SLAPSTICON 2010 to unveil lost and unknown Chaplin Film
Hey Mr. Hayde, what the holy heck is this "alleged" final Keaton television appearance and the Chaplin Mutual outtakes shown to be "supposedly" belonging to the Killiam Collection? You go find a later TV appearance for Buster shot after October 1965 before you get so questioning...

Roberts on the Radio:Hot Jazz Saturday NIght Slapsticon
Hey Gang, Last Saturday evening I was a guest on WAMU's Hot Jazz Saturday Night hosted by Rob Bamberger where we spent a pleasant hour and a half talking about Slapsticon, Silent Comedy and played a number of great recordings related to film comedy and by film comedians. Re: "Run 'Em Ragged" (1920) with Snub Pollard
Does anyone have any information on "Run 'Em Ragged", the 1920 Snub Pollard short that was part of the cache of silent films recently uncovered in New Zealand? IMDb suggests it was directed by Charles Parrott, but as we know that site is not always 100% accurate. Does a synopsis (or credi...
