Re: Essanay Sweedie clip - Wallace Beery, Leo White
Thanks, Ed! I really enjoyed his Vitaphone Movie Memories shorts, which are available as part of a Warner Archives set, Vitaphone Cavalcade Of Musical Comedy Shorts. Snarky, yes, but always good to see rare clips.

Re: Essanay Sweedie clip - Wallace Beery, Leo White
Is the narrator for this series the same one who did a similar series around the same time for Vitaphone?

Okay William Ferry, we know you're one of our frequent readers and we caught you making your "guess" yesterday over at Nitwitvile answering some nameless ones question as to what this film really was without copping to where you got that info, kinda tacky Ferry. RICHARD M ROBERTS In my de...

Re: HOT SPORTS (1929) Monty Collins, Vernon Dent
This short is one of my favorites. I still have my old Blackhawk 8mm print, one of the earliest I bought. This ranks in my Top 5 of all Vitaphone shorts (along with SHARPS AND FLATS with The Conlins and THE BEAU BRUMMELS with Shaw and Lee).

Re: HARRY LANGDON AT HAL ROACH: THE TALKIES 1929-30
Good afternoon, fellow Mafiosi! I was delighted to receive my set yesterday (thank you, UPS). Naturally, I sat right down to watch it, with the commentary track on. This was definitely worth waiting for, and I was delighted to post a five-star review on Amazon today. Thank you to Kit Parker Films, a...

Re: George Jessel and his Russian Art Choir
Leaving us once again to ask the question we ask after seeing Jessel in ANYTHING: "What the hell is he doing there?". RICHARD M ROBERTS I like the observation that Scott Berg made, in THE SPEED OF SOUND, that seeing Jessel answers the question "What would have happened if Jessel made...
