Re: Roberts on the Radio
Good interview Richard. You were lucky that the host seemed to of had a partial knowledge of everything you were speaking of. I laughed when the two of you were discussing Mabel's health & mental state and you said we better stop or people will get the idea that the weekend will be a depressive ...

Re: Has the Slaphappy series been licensed to Madacy???
I believe professional DVD's have a larger space capacity without a loss in quality as opposed to DVD-r's.

Liberty - (1929)
This is one of L&H's finest silents but there have always been a few points about this film that jumps out at me. For one thing, isn't it strange how McCarey treats the opening jailbreak sequence in such a straight manner? The opening shot could of came straight from Chaplin's "The Adventur...

Any idea who it was that was willing to originally finance a feature for Langdon?

Re: Larry Semon and Vernon Dent
I like how Semon and his publicist play up the fact that 'quality shorts' are just as good as longer features. They don't bother mentioning that Larry recently bombed out in his first feature and is forced to go back to making shorts, but I have a feeling the public and exhibitors back then may had ...

Re: Herald Scotland: Slap of the Gods
The other day I was mulling over the quieter moments of the great clowns that always makes me laugh. For all of their big slapstick scenes that befell L&H it is always the looks that the pair exchanged to each other both before and after disaster struck that hits me in the guts. Among them is in...

I'm going to see a doctor tomorrow about my dissertations.
I hope he gives me something for it.

Re: RE: Isn't Life Terrible? (Chase, 1925)
I can't answer your question David although to me it always looked like a little girl playing that part. But it is the appearance of the black child in this short that helped elevate this comedy in my eyes. The family is in a rush to board their leaky sieve of a boat for a relaxing family outing and...

Re: Initiating the Young (or "What Worked for YOU?")
Sennett shorts from the 1920's were made wholeheartedly for kids. In fact, it may had screwed me up as a kid making me think that every Sennett film was a wild roller coaster ride. I found out otherwise when I began watching Blackhawk films of Keystones made in the teens. We've already discussed thi...

I always found Alan Alda's dad rather underwhelming.
