Re: RKO Two-Reelers

I did locate HALFWAY TO HOLLYWOOD 1938 with original titles, but there was a negative cut where the sword is thrown. I put the the titles on my complete Official Films print. So did it feature head-shots on the main title? I like how Columbia took the time in the 1930's to prepare these titles, eve...

Re: Whoopee Comedies

Have you tried The Vitaphone Project? They have done fine work over the years helping to find - and publicize the finding of - disks from a number of Pathe titles, as well as those from Vitaphone and other producers.

Re: Lauritzen and Lundquist

Richard - Thanks, that's what I had recalled hearing. Too bad; they're such nice big books.

Lauritzen and Lundquist

I recall some discussion in the past - somewhere, anyway - about the relative merits of the two American Film-Index volumes by Einer Lauritzen and Gunnar Lundquist. Any thoughts from the group as to their reliability?

Re: ARE HUSBANDS HAPPY? (1922)

This is one of the Speed Comedies that Arrow released during the 1921-22 season. They were made by a unit led by Reggie Morris that was formed to make comedies for Special Pictures Corporation. Special seems to have been better at signing comedians to contracts than actually making comedies with tho...

Re: Silent Comedy Mafia Library: Books & Periodicals

Are you able to get onto the Fulton History website? Every time I try - using three different computers - I get blocked. Do you know what years they have for the New York Dramatic Mirror?

Film Daily Yearbook 1942

I have found myself with two beat-up copies of the FD Yearbook from 1942. If there is anyone out there with a similarly beat-up yearbook from 1939, 1940, or 1943-46 that would like to swap, please let me know.

Re: Walter Lantz in comedy shorts?

In the 1925 or so period, there were not too many animators in Los Angeles. Most of the professionals were in New York working for J.R. Bray, Paul Terry (Aesop's Fables), Max Fleischer (Out of the Inkwell), Pat Sullivan (Felix), Bill Nolan (Krazy Kat) and the like. Walt Disney was unusual for settin...
