Re: "Boom in the Moon" soundtrack

The other consideration regarding BOOM ON THE THE MOON'S dubbing could have been that they didn't have separate music tracks left of the original score that they could mix and somebody had tracks on a Tzipine score for something else that was clearable and seemed to fit. That might be the case, it'...

Re: "Boom in the Moon" soundtrack

Interesting theory re: video/DVD releases of BOOM and WAR. I know TV shows like SCTV and WKRP were withheld from DVD release for years due to music rights issues, but can't think of any films that suffered a similar fate. (And isn't that how Republic regained rights to "It's A Wonderful Life&q...

Re: A little nostalgia for Mr. Roberts…

…and for anyone with fond memories of the musical stylings of the Thomas J. Valentino library! First up, the opening sequence from Blackhawk’s version of TWO TARS – this taken from a Japanese VCD pirated from Michael Agee’s laser disc. Of course I remember it spooling through my Eumig super-8 proje...

Re: Need ID for LOOK OUT BELOW (1929)

I wish to know the name of the chap pictured here. I know I have seen him before but I can't seem to connect him. These grabs are from the Educational short LOOK OUT BELOW (1929) where this fellow plays Thelma Todd's jealous husband. Thanks in advance . That's Robert Graves, Educational supporting ...

Re: "Boom in the Moon" soundtrack

Thanks Richard; if I understand correctly it's certain topical references that tip off that BOOM IN THE MOON is an 80s creation...specifically some insert shots and the voice track. But the score is so well designed, and similar in tone to the original (music by Leo Cardona) that I'd have to assume...

Re: "Boom in the Moon" soundtrack

So I'm scratching my head over when the English dub for Buster Keaton's "El Moderno Barba Azul" was done. There seems to be some thinking that the English version was prepared for the video release in the 80s, but the musical score differs from that of the original Spanish version. Credit...

Re: Atoll K "Mystery Woman"

I've seen every Laurel & Hardy film dozens of times, and ATOLL K more times than I care to admit. But I just noticed this for the first time (it helps when you have a nice print, such as the German DVD "Dick und Doof erben eine Insel"): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlR98ezoAFg Watch...

Re: Tille reissue, circa 19-sixty___?

Thanks Brent (and Rob too, natch!) So you figure this received a theatrical release as late as '67? Seems pretty primitive, compared to the Youngson stuff and even somthing like "The Great Stone Face". I think I have more different versions of TILLIES PUNCTURED ROMANCE than anything else ...

Re: Jay Howe at Roach

Does anyone know what film Jay Howe was directing at Roach in June 1924? Jay A. Howe was directing HOT STUFF, a Spat Family comedy from May 26th-June 11, 1924, then did retakes on it from June 18-21st. he then co-directed THE RUBBER NECK with Victor Potel from June 30th-July 3rd, later handling ret...
