Re: Maxine Semon
Can you please avoid being so vague in your responses Michael? Geez! You leave no stone unturned, do you! Thanks for the excellent research! However, you missed something important. I recall running across a reference to a one-reeler Maxine appeared in with Larry when she was a kid. It must have bee...

Re: The True King Of Comedy
I just watched "Down on the Farm" on my DVR and got a kick seeing a member of the production crew inadverently walk through the background of a scene with Harry Gribbon and Bert Roach in the general store set ... and then seeing the kid hiding in a wooden box on the back of Louise Fazenda'...

Re: The True King Of Comedy
My DVR was smokin' last night, Richard! This morning I quickly scanned the films to make sure they recorded okay and take a peek at what I'll be sitting back to enjoy in the days to come. There are a lot of rarities among these Sennett films and the scores are great. Can't wait for the DVD set to co...

If I'm not mistaken Laurel's brother Ted plays a butler in Stan's solo comedy "The Egg".

Re: The Many Faces of Joy
If this cult fascination keeps up, might we not see Johnny Depp starring in "Al Joy" at some point in the not too distant future? As bad as the guy may have been - and he was pretty darn bad - at least he didn't dress up in cashmere sweaters (although Steve Massa's research may discover ot...

Re: HOLLYWOOD HISTORY AT THE WEST LA VA MEDICAL CENTER
Each month we edit each story down to streamline it for YouTube. Brent made mention of Block-Heads but that section was trimmed out of the original. The full segment can be viewed by going to The Pentagon Channel's website at http://www.pentagonchannel.mil On the bottom left you'll see a menu. Click...

HOLLYWOOD HISTORY AT THE WEST LA VA MEDICAL CENTER
Several months ago I was out in LA working on segments for the TV program I executive produce, "The American Veteran," which deals with -- you guessed it -- issues of interest to our nation's Vets. I shot a story with Brent Walker at the West LA VA Medical Center about its history as a fil...

Re: Lost Pat and Patachons
Uli - Just spotted your post. I came across the Pat and Patachon website last year but this prompted me to revisit it. I was pleased to see new material has been added. Question. Do you know if Carl Schenstrom died in 1942 as a result of the war? Also, the information about Harald Madsen's phobia ab...

Re: Walter Lantz in comedy shorts?
Where else but here at Silent Comedy Mafia would you get such fascinating "in the weeds" tidbits about obscure facets of silent comedy history! This puts Woody Woodpecker in a whole new light for me! I absolutely love it! Thanks
