Re: CAMERA Comedy Clippings, September 15, 1923

I believe the only Sunshine that Archie Mayo directed was SPRING FEVER (12/30/23) with Harry Sweet. That makes it likely that the Lew Brice title directed by Erle Kenton was THE INCOME TAX COLLECTOR (12/2/23) and the comedy that Slim Summerville directed was THE RIDING MASTER (12/16/23) with Poodles...

Re: Johnny Dooley Comedies

Steve, the Moving Picture World for 1/31/20 has a very similar item for A SOCIAL SLEUTH. The big names for a states rights release of this sort were probably meant to attract investors who would help fund the production of the series beyond the one or two that were made. Looks like it might not have...

Re: Johnny Dooley Comedies

There were ads and announcements in mid-1919 into early 1920 for the Johnny Dooley Comedies, to be released on the states rights makret by Tyrad Pictures; Radin Pictures is another name that is seen. Two additional titles are A SOCIAL SLEUTH and SOME MIND READER. I have seen a newspaper ad for the l...

Beth Darlington and Constance Darling

For all of you credits junkies out there, are Miss Darlington and Miss Darling the same person? The former's name appears in Century Comedy credits until 1925 and the latter's from and after 1925. Thanks for any insight.

Re: Fox Silent Shorts List

I have compiled the additions and changes made by Steve Massa and Tom Reeder, together with some of my own, to Rob Farr's list of Henry Lehrman Sunshines. Considering that he only managed to turn out 27 comedies over two seasons, Lehrman and Fox seem to have made a considerable impression with these...

Re: Fox Silent Shorts List

This looks like a fun project that will take some time to get through. I've started looking at the Foxfilm Comedies from 1917, which were Fox's first series of comedies. I believe these were produced directly by Fox Film Company, with the possible exception of THE HOUSE OF TERRIBLE SCANDALS, which w...

Joe Moore wrote:LONG LIVE THE RING is one of the Henry Lehrman directed entries in "The Fighting Blood" series. Possibly a working title.

LONG LIVE THE RING was the final title, and was the third in the second series of "Fighting Blood," released by FBO on September 2, 1923.

Re: Some Paramount Sound Comedies

My guess is that HUBBY'S NIGHTS OUT is a retitled version of MEET THE MISSUS, from 1929, since I am pretty sure that the Gleasons only made two comedies for Al Christie. Do you have the other credits, such as supporting cast, for HUBBY'S NIGHTS OUT?

Some Paramount Sound Comedies

To complement Steve Massa's list from a couple of weeks back of silent Christie comedies released by Paramount in the late 1920's, here is a listing of some of the sound comedies released by Paramount in the early sound era. These sound comedies were produced by Christie Film Company, Phil Ryan and ...
