Re: Atoll K "Mystery Woman"

I think it's Virginia Ruth Laurel (Stan's 2nd and 4th wife) trying to get back alimony.

Re: C.L. Chester's ROARS AND UPROARS

Thanks Frank. I thought that the guy was too old and angular looking to be Savo.

Re: C.L. Chester's ROARS AND UPROARS

Hi guys In the sixth scan the wedding groom (on the left with hair parted down the middle, moustache, and horn-rimmed glasses) is Ernie Shields, veteran of Joker, Century, and Fox comedies. In the fifth scan of the perspective grooms, the fellow on the left of Bobby Ray turned up in a ebay still wit...

Re: Behind the scenes still at the Hal Roach Studio

Hi guys
It's hard to say 100%, but the guy squatting on the left in the flat cap looks like it might be Alf Goulding.

Re: Joe Keaton in non-Buster Keaton films

Hi Sara Last night I took a look at my copies of LIZZIES OF THE FIELD and SOLD AT AUCTION and came to exactly the same conclusion as Richard. It's definitely Ford West (with darkened hair) in LIZZIES, and whoever the heavily made up guy is in SOLD AT AUCTION he's too tall and bulky to be Joe (I don'...

Re: O'Conor Productions

Hi Tommie It looks like O'Conor distributed them himself. Here's some quotes from an exhibitor ad for the series from the 7/1/1922 Moving Picture World (pg. 16): "Direct from Producer to Exchange" "You pay what they are worth - No More! Direct means better pictures for less money"...

Re: O'Conor Productions

Here's some more info from the 7/29/1922 Moving Picture World (pg. 371): "SIX FRANEY'S READY Six of the two-reel Billy Franey pictures are now ready according to the announcement from Gus Schumacher, general manager of O'Conor productions. The fifth and sixth just completed are "A Kissless...

Re: O'Conor Productions

Hi Brent Here's a couple of O'Conor items from the Motion Picture News. The first is from the 6/24/1922 issue (pg. 3342): "O'CONOR BECOMES HEAD OF COMPANY For five years Robert O'Conor served a grueling apprenticeship under Hal Roach, producer of Harold Lloyd comedies, and now he is a producer ...

Re: The Misfit (1924)

The other Lou Anger-produced Cook short is THE BRONCHO EXPRESS (2/10/1924), which was released about a month before THE MISFIT. Sadly this one seems to have disappeared. I've seen a couple of photos in the Motion Picture News with Clyde surrounded by Indians. I guess Big Joe may have been in this on...
