Re: Harold Lloyd by Robert E. Sherwood
It's interesting that Sherwood actually mentions the effects of the bomb: the loss to his right hand.

As I'm sure everyone knows, that Shatner fella played the Robert Reed role in what might be considered the pilot, THE DEFENDER, with Ralph Bellamy, if my memory serves correctly.

Happy New Year 2024!
Happy New Year fellow Mafiosi! May the coming year bring you joy, peace, and plenty of goodies. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to burn some 1928 PD material to DVD to sell at my local flea market (after Covid, is that even a thing anymore?) Or as my dear Uncle Jack might have said to me, "Don'...

Re: Buster Keaton's San Francisco footsteps
These are always fascinating. Thanks for all the great detective work. Sometimes it's sad to see the changes that Progress has wrought, but it's fun to pretend the ghosts of Comedy are on the scene to reenact these moments. Re: THE GREAT PIE MYSTERY (1931) Harry Gribbon, Harry Myers
Thanks Richard! I've heard so much about this, and I've been dying to see it for years. IIRC, it might be included on THE MACK SENNETT COLLECTION, vol. 2. (I'm not harping on its eventual release, by the way. I know that will appear when it appears.)

Re: The Book Of Shemp
I got my copy on Sunday, and I'm about a third of the way through. I'm glad Shemp finally got a book. From what I've read thus far, he seemed to be someone well worth knowing. It's a very detailed look at a remarkable career. Shemp Howard was a great comic, and I recommend this book.

Re: Identifying photo
I think you've both pretty much nailed this as bring a "real" person vs. a "reel" one. It was a fun exercise.

Re: Identifying photo
My first guess would have been Will Rogers, but the autograph would seem to prove me wrong. It looks somewhat like "F W Martin".
