Re: Seven More Talkie Torchys
These shorts are pretty charming, Richard. Torchy is a young fellow you can really root for, and it's always rewarding to see him come out on top. I'd heard of Johnny Hines' series, but this group is new to me. How many did they make?

Re: WEISS-O-RAMA now up on Youtube
I'm sure this is preaching to the choir, but I unequivocally recommend this set. The films look great, and they're loaded with good gags. I do think Jack Cooper is funnier as the villain in the Hairbreadth Harry comedies than Jimmy Aubrey, but that's just me.

Re: Nitrateville Nonsense: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
This is an obsession I've never understood, Richard. I just enjoy watching these films. I don't care if it's the 25 or 29 PHANTOM, or the current version of VARSITY SHOW that's supposedly some 20 minutes short, or THE PERILS OF PAULINE edited WWI-era reissue. I'm 62 now, and I've enjoyed old films f...

Good to see James Finlayson, and in a somewhat different character. This channel is a real treasure trove. Does the Atlas Television have any relation to the old 8mm home movie company?

Re: TIME IS MONEY! THE CENTURY, RAINBOW, AND STERN BROTHERS COMEDIES OF JULIUS AND ABE STERN
My lovely wife bought me a copy for our anniversary. I'm up to the 1919-1920 "season", and I'm really enjoying the ride. I've heard Steve Massa mention the Universal Joker and Century comedies many times. I don't think I've seen more than a few, but I'm now intrigued enough to seek out mor...

Well, hooooooow do you like that? I know Educational shorts, especially talkies, get a bad rap, but these Joe Cook shorts are pretty good overall.

Richard, I'm sure I missed something. Were there ANY gags in that picture?

Re: Trailer for THE CAT'S PAW (1934)
Just my humble opinion: I know MOVIE CRAZY has its fans, but for me, THE CAT'S PAW provides a tantalizing glimpse of the Harold Lloyd that could have been. This characterization was a good fit for the now-mature (and somewhat prissy-sounding) Lloyd, who abandoned his boyish go-getter far too late. S...

Re: PATHFINDERS: MACK SENNETT A RIOT OF DISORDER (1964)
Its always fun, and somewhat bittersweet, to see and hear silent stars reminisce. They have great stories, obviously enjoyed their work, and it's sad to think they're all gone.
