Syd Chaplin Bio

I just finished reading Lisa Stein's new biography of Syd Chaplin and just want to tell everyone how much I enjoyed it. Lisa's book is well researched and well written, with many interesting photos of his Syd's life and career. What a rogue the guy must have been, easily as complex of a personality ...

Re: Our Gang Silents on TCM

I'm really looking forward to placing Paul's future work on my shelf! He's done a first-class job with every project he's undertaken and I was extremely disappointed this morning to see the shoddy, quick-buck job Laughsmith's old distributor has done with these silent Our Gang classics!

Re: email from "Michael Agee" re: L&H DVD set

Are you sure you didn't pre-order a Warner Brothers DVD set from this guy 'cause he sure seems Looney Tunes to me! For havin' such a bad time with his process, it appears processing your payment wasn't a problem at all for him. Good luck with your unique adventure

Re: Chaplin Time Traveler?

It's my theory the woman was taking her pet mouse for a walk. The small critter got tired, so she was forced to carry it. The film shows her gently talking to the rodent to calm its frazzled nerves caused by LA's busy foot and automobile traffic. But of course this is purely conjecture on my part. J...

Chaplin Time Traveler?

Take a look at this YouTube clip from the streets of LA in 1928. It features a promotional sign for "The Circus" in the background with a passerby supposedly talking on a cell phone. That's right, a cell phone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DF8WF3vGUn8

Re: First review I've seen of "Chaplin at Keystone"

Just received my pre-ordered Chaplin set today and have done a quick look-see at the contents. The films are indeed run at a slower speed. But it doesn't bug me that much since it's such a pleasure to see decent prints of these formative comedies. I've been collecting since I was in high school, bac...

Re: Lost Pat and Patachons

I genuinely enjoy Pat and Patachon. In my opinion they are one of the best film comedy teams ever! Although some of their material is quite "European" the bulk of their work has universal appeal - much like Laurel and Hardy. I'd love to see more postings about them on this site. Thanks Jim K
