Re: Question regarding THE STAGE HAND

THE STAGE HAND is one Langdon title I have trouble tolerating. Two of my favorites are KNIGHT DUTY 1933 and LOVE HONOR AND OBEY (THE LAW!) * 1936. The cat and canary gag is a highlight. (I believe LOVE was shot on the Educational lot for Goodyear.) * My 1935 Kodak ** printdown with opening titles f...

Re: Lloyd Hamilton in "A Home Made Man" on eBay

It does.... Now you know why I flunked out of Film Collecting 101. Yeah but when it comes to Economics I'm still in kindergarten ("let's see - for $66 I can own all the Roach L&H talkies on DVD...or maybe I can buy a 16mm print of just ONE L&H short on eBay...and maybe it won't be spli...

Re: Lloyd Hamilton in "A Home Made Man" on eBay

I'm not a collector but if a film is found in 9.5 mm format is it most likely that it was produced in Europe? The diameter (length across it) of the reel itself is 9 and a half inches, Gary. The diameter of US 800 foot reels is ten and a half inches. The film gauge is 16mm, not 9.5mm. The width of ...

Re: Lloyd Hamilton in "A Home Made Man" on eBay

Well, it's a reversal print, and thats not an 800 or 600 ft reel pictured, it's a 400 foot reel. Smells fishy to me. RICHARD M ROBERTS The reel is 9.5 inches in diameter, which corresponds to a British 800 foot reel. Most of the two reel comedies I get from the UK are on this smaller-sized reel. Th...

Re: Lloyd Hamilton in "A Home Made Man" on eBay

For those interested, I spotted this title just listed on the UK eBay site, it's one of Ham's last silent comedies: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0478641/ Forget the imdb link, where's the ebay link! RICHARD M ROBERTS Whoops, oh sure, here it is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lloyd-Hamilton-Home-Made-Man-1...

Re: RKO Two-Reelers

I enjoyed Ed Watz's WHEELER & WOOLSEY book EXCEPT for the Clark & McCullough negative comment. In my opinion, Clark is a high energy Woolsey. As for McCullough's support, it compliments Clark. Thanks Ralph for the nice words about my W & W book. Regarding C & McC, we agree to disagr...

Re: RKO Two-Reelers

When I was doing research for my book on Wheeler & Woolsey I interviewed people from The Lambs Club in NYC (Bert Wheeler lived at The Lambs in its original location on West 44th Street). Tom Dillon, who became Bert's last partner in 1955, also knew Bobby Clark (Bobby was an active member in The ...
