Well, just to get you gearing up for next year, here's the dates for Slapsticon 2010, they're official: July 15-18, 2010. Thursday through Sunday. The Spectrum Theater, Arlington, Virginia. Re: "Boom in the Moon" soundtrack
I wouldn't say that necessarily, I like JITTERBUGS, THE BIG NOISE and THE BULLFIGHTERS as well. I would! :) If Stan and Babe looked healthier, even as well as they look in the 1947 newsreel footage, and performed the material in ATOLL's first 40 minutes with the same enthusiasm they manage to bring...

Re: Atoll K ephemera, detritus and what-not
Yeah, it's strange that I started off with UTOPIA, but then again, Laurel & Hardy were on AMC every week back then so any bad taste left over from UTOPIA quickly subsided after watching ANOTHER FINE MESS. The cheapo VHS copy of UTOPIA heralded it as their last film, so Stan's appearance may not...

Re: Locomotives and Comedy
I ran across this comedy compilation (set to Glenn Miller's Chattanooga Choo Choo) on YouTube. Deftly handled. The editor didn't miss a trick: Enjoy! -- Paul E. Gierucki And I'll blow his cover and say that that was put together by silentcomedymafia's own and fellow Silent Comedians.com exile Gary ...

Re: "Boom in the Moon" soundtrack
The other consideration regarding BOOM ON THE THE MOON'S dubbing could have been that they didn't have separate music tracks left of the original score that they could mix and somebody had tracks on a Tzipine score for something else that was clearable and seemed to fit. That might be the case, it'...

Re: "Boom in the Moon" soundtrack
Interesting theory re: video/DVD releases of BOOM and WAR. I know TV shows like SCTV and WKRP were withheld from DVD release for years due to music rights issues, but can't think of any films that suffered a similar fate. (And isn't that how Republic regained rights to "It's A Wonderful Life&q...

…and for anyone with fond memories of the musical stylings of the Thomas J. Valentino library! First up, the opening sequence from Blackhawk’s version of TWO TARS – this taken from a Japanese VCD pirated from Michael Agee’s laser disc. Of course I remember it spooling through my Eumig super-8 proje...

Re: Need ID for LOOK OUT BELOW (1929)
I wish to know the name of the chap pictured here. I know I have seen him before but I can't seem to connect him. These grabs are from the Educational short LOOK OUT BELOW (1929) where this fellow plays Thelma Todd's jealous husband. Thanks in advance . That's Robert Graves, Educational supporting ...

Re: "Boom in the Moon" soundtrack
Thanks Richard; if I understand correctly it's certain topical references that tip off that BOOM IN THE MOON is an 80s creation...specifically some insert shots and the voice track. But the score is so well designed, and similar in tone to the original (music by Leo Cardona) that I'd have to assume...
