Re: Bobby Burns in 1920?
Frank, don't despair - your instincts were correct!! While digging around I've found an item that shows that by the end of 1921 Burns had joined the Aladdin unit on the East Coast. This is from the 11/12/1921 Moving Picture World (pg. 191): "ANOTHER SERIES FOR REELCRAFT R.C.Cropper, president o...

Re: Bobby Burns in 1920?
The Shiller's home base was in Yonkers at the Mittenthal Studio. The Bud Duncan and Tweedy (Marcel Perez) comedies were made there, but the Sun-Lite Comedies with Billy Quirk, Jobyna Ralston and Bobby Burn were shot in Florida.

Re: Babes in Toyland/March of the Wooden Soldiers
Hi Mark According to Randy Skretvedt's LAUREL & HARDY: THE MAGIC BEHIND HE MOVIES the stop-action footage of the soldiers was shot by cinematographer Art Lloyd and special effects director Roy Seawright, both long-time Roach employees. I'm sure someone will be able to gives us the low-down on th...

Re: Bobby Burns in 1920?
Hi guys The 8/6/1922 Film Daily list five King Cole Comedies with Bobby Burns (MOONSHINERS 3/1, STRIKES TO SPARE 4/1, BARS AND STRIPES 5/1, JAZZ BABIES 6/1 and GENERAL NUISANCE 7/1), which were produced by Mark Dintenfass and distributed by National. Sadly there's no info about where they were made....

Re: Vaudeville resources?
I've been digging around in the Library's collection, and while so far I've haven't found anythong on the "Rats and Cats" act, I have found a photo of "Swaine's Birds" which I think is the act referred to in the earlier review that Michael Hayde posted. The shot has an not very a...

Re: Hallroom Boys in "Conjuror James"
Another Pizor "comedy star" (the term is used loosely) was Art Hammond, who was sort of a Lloyd Hamilton rip-off. He later became an assistant director at Monogram in the 1940s.

Re: Vaudeville resources?
Hi Louie We have a lot of vaudeville material in the Billy Rose Theatre Collection. A good publication to check is Vaudeville News. This ran through the 1920s and later combined with The New York Star. There's also National Vaudeville Association Yearbooks, which usually have ads for all the acts to...

Re: Charley Bower's collaborator
Here's a bit of a puff piece from the 5/8/1926 issue of the Moving Picture World (pg. 164) about the begining of Bower's Whirlwind series: "F.B.O.'S "WHIRLWIND COMEDIES" FINE INNOVATION IN DIVISION OF SHORT FILMS Imagine the Leviathan, a ferryboat and a tug playing lep-frog up the Hud...
