I hope you guys didn't get one of those cheapo Mayan calendars; mine has already run out of pages.

Re: The Annual Happy Holidays Thread

As I look back at Christmases past, I recognize that many of the people on this board had a hand in getting rare comedies under my tree in the form of easily accessible DVDs. I want to thank you all for those efforts, and wish you the best in 2012. Now I must go; it is nearly time to open my Christm...

Re: Laurel & Hardy: The Essential Collection

I've got this all figured out: If I catch anyone breaking out of the package to procure the mortgage to Mother Peep's shoe, they will have to perform "The Barber Of Seville" in my opera house, or beg for coins on the street.

Re: Laurel & Hardy: The Essential Collection

Thanks for posting that information, Chris; it's making me hungrier. My set actually arrived, but I'm forbidden to open it until Christmas morning. It's going to be a long couple of months.

Re: Lost Lloyd Shorts

Thank you, gentlemen, for weighing in on this. Well, a baker's dozen are no longer missing, and likely others will come to light. As all of these films run a single reel in duration, I'm guessing that favors their odds of turning up somewhere in a small gauge.

Lost Lloyd Shorts

By my count, there are nearly thirty titles missing from Harold Lloyd's post-Luke canon. Chances are, however, that my information is antiquated, and it is more than likely that some of these films have been located. If there are any titles below no longer presumed lost, and you are so inclined, ple...

Re: Blue Collar Buster & Silents Please: The Great Comedians

Paul, you are a dynamo! The Keaton set alone will prove to be an important historical document, I'm sure, as well as an entertaining one, of course. Looking at the other irons you've got in the fire, I'm betting they will all share that honour. Speaking for myself, and presumably other members of th...

Re: Keaton's "ZEPPED"

This is arguably the most important find since Abbott & Costello's CHAMPS OF THE CHASE turned up at 38 seperate yard sales in a single weekend.

Re: Langdon's Vaudville Act

With several of his films still missing, who can say with absolute certainty that he didn't? Remember, before DUCK SOUP was located, many people wondered why it took Roach so long to "team" Laurel & Hardy. Perhaps he shot "Johnny's New Car" for Sol Lesser, or maybe that's the...
