Re: Roscoe Arbuckle and the Eads Castle Cafe

Interesting circumstances around that ad. In addition to running the Plantation Cafe (not Club) Arbuckle also opened a restaurant called Roscoe's, formerly Ead's, which was located just a few blocks away from the Chaplin studio. Following the market crash, Arbuckle was forced to sell off his interes...

Re: The Brother of Fatty Arbuckle...

The photo is indeed of Maclyn Arbuckle -- but he was not Roscoe's brother. Or his cousin. Or uncle. Or anything. He was, however, the original star of the popular stage play THE ROUNDUP. He beat our lad Roscoe to the role of Slim Hoover by about 13 years. Thanks for the post, Joan, I just may bid on...

Re: Arbuckle a Founder of United Artists?

I've not found anything concrete on this either, Rob, but it is an intriguing thought. Arbuckle and Chaplin were very close friends so I would guess that the matter was discussed at least to some small degree. I also have to imagine that RA would have had a hard time walking away from a prestigious ...

Nobody Likes A Film Wrecker

For our 16mmm collectors: I found this with a rental library print of Laurel and Hardy's TIT FOR TAT. Ironically, the film was nearly destroyed -- diagonal splices every two feet! No matter, it was worth it for this cool bit of retro. Simply right click to save. Cheers! -- Paul E. Gierucki http://Ha...

Charley Chase DVD Petition

Hey Folks, I just received the following from Yair Solan: All twenty of Charley Chase's films for Columbia Pictures (1937-40) have been restored and preserved in 35mm prints. Unfortunately, the upcoming DVD set by Sony Pictures Entertainment has been postponed due to the current state of the consume...

Louie, Glad to see that you made it here; doubly so that Steve could help! As to the file size concern, we are still feeling our way around the board software. I don't believe that there is an area limit rather there is a file size limit. I'll look into it and get back to you as soon as possible. Ot...
