IDLE ROOMERS (1931) Molino Brothers
Another Educational Cameo Comedy missing a minute or so from it's LOC print (I've got a complete one we showed at Slapsticon in 2013). Directed by Roscoe Arbuckle and released November 29, 1931, it features the Molino Brothers (Frank and Alfred), Fern Emmett (oddly billed as the star in the redone A...

Nitrateville Comment: THE PILL POUNDER
So everyone over at Nitwitvile are oohing and awing in disbelief that one of the C. C. Burr-Charlie Murray All Star Comedies turned up at the Modern Sound Pictures Parking Lot sale: https://www.nitrateville.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=35671 Well, no surprise there, Keith Smith bought a number of tho...

SO THIS IS HOLLYWOOD: A FRIEND IN NEED (1955) Victor Moore, MItzi Green
Here's an episode on an interesting TV sitcom from 1955 that was another one of Richard L. Bare's early forays into television, with a script by Edward Beloin, George O'Hanlon and Dean Riesner, and an interesting supporting cast including stars Virginia Gibson, MItzi Green as an adult (much more int...

Re: HARVEY with Art Carney (1958)
Fred Gwynne repeated the role of the cab driver in the 1972 HALLMARK HALL OF FAME version with Jimmy Stewart and Helen Hayes, he must have liked the part, it is a good one, one good scene at the end and a terrific speech to boot.

LOVE A LA MODE (1930) Bernard Granville, Kathryn McGuire
Here's evidence that Jack White could produce just as leaden and painful an early talkie as either Mack Sennett or Al Christie could. Released by Educational November 2, 1930, directed by Stephen Roberts, and featuring "Broadway Legend" Bernard "Bunny" Granville (well, he was Bon...

Re: LIVING A RAGTIME LIFE (1992) Max Morath
William, I think you meant, "Good Show Max", I merely put it up on the mafia. And I'm proud to say I have a copy of that Hirschfeld drawing autographed by Max up on one of my walls. I'm sure that was drawn when Max was doing his Broadway show in the early 70's, but of course it became his ...

Re: Nitrateville: Two complimentary Threads
The only saving grace is, if you run it at sound speed, it should only be around 5:25. Still not, to coin an old phrase, the most effective use of my time. I could watch a good triple feature (to say the least) during that time. But, to each his own. Not to get off on a tangent, but someone's runni...
