Re: Peggy Aarup

Damn! It bounced back as undeliverable due to "extended inactivity." Oh, well, it was worth a shot.

Re: Peggy Aarup

Hey Steve: I've sent an email to "Spaan" who posted the Aarup bio, with the hopes of clearing up some of the confusion therein (Fox Sunshine? In 1916?). We'll see if I receive any sort of response. I have no real reason to believe that Aarup actually worked for Lehrman directly. I found an...

Re: Peggy Aarup

Mr. Wooster, I presume! Thanks for this link which offers one heck of a lot more information than I'd hoped for. Unfortunately (for me), it's somewhat cloudy regarding the area I was specifically interested in, which is whether or not she actually worked for Lehrman. The two L-Ko's from 1919 are aft...

Re: Peggy Aarup

Thanks for the background, guys. "Gymbelles and Boneheads" was the sole credit I had for her, Steve, so the "Fido" credit is another step forward. And thanks, Andrew, for the Christie and Genevieve Berte leads - that gives me something more to pursue.

Peggy Aarup

Can anyone supply some information regarding this blonde actress's involvement in silent comedies of the teens? Aarup was her birth name, and she supposedly had minor parts in films for Sennett and Lehrman before changing her last name to O'Day for several films 1919-1920, then finished out her film...

Re: Hallroom Boys in "Conjuror James"

There was an earlier Hallroom boys comedy made by the Sterling Motion Picture Corp. in 1915 titled The Fox Trot Craze that I'd forgotten about, but just stumbled across in my notes. In this one the characters are named Percy and Harold. My synopis and some contemporary comments follow: The Fox Trot ...

109 pounds at age 6? That's sad. Although I'm gratified to see on IMDb that in spite of his youthful weight he lived up to the "ripe" old age of 68.

Re: Minta Durfee and The Last of the Terrible Men

Very interesting stuff, Joan. This is a nicely researched snapshot of some of the tangential characters involved in the famous scandal. Detail and minutia of this sort is noticably absent from most accounts of the affair, and suggest that yours may very well be the definitive reconstruction of the h...

Re: C.L. Chester's ROARS AND UPROARS

I opine that this film was originally a Universal and for some reason was not released by Universal but sold to Chester. A friend of mine has seen a Universal lion comedy from 1921that takes place in the same lobby with the same signs on the wall. That's very interesting, Tommie, but it kind of def...
