Re: Nitrateville General Jack-Assery: A Load of Jitter-Judde
Richard, I think that appreciation of accompaniments to silent films is a very subjective thing. I happen to like Mont Alto's scores a lot. I've just finished watching Cut To The Chase and, for me, Mont Alto's scores were the best of the lot and certainly not comedy-killing. The accompanists I reall...

Re: More Discoveries from the new version of The Blacksmith
Richard, the groveling / banning stuff was intended as humour, or "humor" as you folks in the Colonies will have it. I don't care what everybody else says about you, I think you're just a pussycat. Your comment about Ship Ahoy is very interesting - I was very surprised when I first saw thi...

Re: More Discoveries from the new version of The Blacksmith
You know, I hate to say this, but is it just me, I think it's you, Richard! Surely, the discovery of around 4 minutes of "new" Keaton footage from any era is important, if not quite in the "Thief Catcher" class, and John's researches are VERY interesting. However, in order to av...

Re: Evidence of Arbuckle's Uncredited Directing Work
In Steve Massa's Lame Brains & Lunatics book, there is a photo of Arbuckle on location with the cast of The Iron Mule. He certainly looks like the man in charge!

Re: LAME BRAINS AND LUNATICS - new book on silent comedy
The book is now up on Amazon UK too. Just ordered. What with this, Richard's new book and the Cinemuseum projects, it looks like I'm going to be happy for some time to come. Impoverished, but happy.

Re: Complete films of Pierre Etaix restored
David, many thanks for that great article. I'm hoping that someone will release a Pierre Etaix set in the UK - maybe Masters of Cinema or the BFI. I was sorely tempted to buy the French release, but held off because of the lack of English titles and the rudimentary nature of my schoolboy French. If ...

Re: "Easy Does It"
This short, as "Kidding the Kidnappers" is on a recent release from Loose Than Loose called Manchester 2010 Mirthquake Obscurities. Here's what they have to say about it: "Kidding the Kidnappers" (not the correct title) (Bull's Eye - Reel Craft; 1920s) Cast: Milburn Morante. One ...
