Re: Mafia Webinar: NO TIME FOR COMEDY
This webinar was especially entertaining from the perspective of it seeming more like a general conversation among film fans. I mean the kind where someone says, "That reminds me of so and so", and the discussion goes off on a whole different tangent. It's a good way to broaden the scope a...

I managed to snag the hardcover @ $15.75 after your last post. I'd already read the mis-printed paperback version (a surprise gift from my wife last year). I just finished the hardback yesterday after two days. It's a compelling story definitely worth multiple reads.

Re: Mafia Webinar: "Where and How Did You Meet the Silent Clowns?"
My first exposure was the Charlie Chaplin Theater, when I was six. Actually, it might have been Funny Manns, the year earlier. This led to the Youngson films a bit later (When Comedy Was King was the first I saw).

Re: Silent film insights from Boris Badenov
Some of my favorite Bullwinkle film references: A Dudley Do-Right episode in which each character was portrayed by some variation of Sid Gould (Sid, Sid Jr, Sid's Mother-in-Law). I wonder if they were deliberately referencing Sid Gould, who worked countless times on Lucille Ball's tv shows? I think ...

Re: Nitrateville was SO concerned about us.......
Hi Richard, A few observations... 1. I visit SCM daily (this is one of only three sites that can boast that claim); I never even noticed the offline issue, which leads me to believe the glitch time was shorter than the time it's taking me to write this, let alone read the NVille thread. 2. If reader...

Happily, Steve Massa came through in the clutch and straightened it all out.

Re: Coming in October..........
Sweet macaroons! Wonderful news, Richard. I'm there! Not to spoil the surprise, but have sound elements been found, or will this be a mix like the Langdon collection (either format will be, shall we say, a darb). Thank you for all your efforts. Because of you we can have nice things!

I first heard that record on Joe Franklin's radio show back in the 70s. One of the all time great records, and songs, of the 20s.

Re: Seven More Talkie Torchys
These shorts are pretty charming, Richard. Torchy is a young fellow you can really root for, and it's always rewarding to see him come out on top. I'd heard of Johnny Hines' series, but this group is new to me. How many did they make?
