Re: Pigmeat Markham on THE TONIGHT SHOW (1968)

I just saw this the other day. When I clicked the link, I had no idea who the guests would be. What a nice surprise. I was happy that Carson gave him so much camera time. It was a treat to see him perform twice as well as give an interview. I have a couple of his albums. Great stuff! Thanks for shar...

"Our Gang" Rare Film Find

Hey all, Here's some good news to report! A 16mm Exclusive Movie print of reel 1 of the first Our Gang film turned up sometime last year and made its way into the hands of a private collector. Unfortunately, it appeared to be damaged and covered in rust. It took some careful handling and professiona...

New C-W Films Our Gang Silent DVD Release

I recently picked up the C-W Films Our Gang silent DVD release of "Your Own Back Yard" and "The Love Bug". "Your Own Back Yard" is finally available to the public and is looking great! "The Love Bug" is also here in the best quality currently available. Both s...

Re: THE OLD WALLOP (1927) Our Gang

If you love Our Gang and you haven't yet watched The Old Wallop on YouTube, you might want to make that a priority. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Richard Bann announced on Facebook this week that "This is a copyrighted film and will be removed from YouTube." I have already r...

Re: THE OLD WALLOP (1927) Our Gang

I am one of three people that participated in the recent release of The Old Wallop. I had worked on a version of the film several years ago and had access to a better print of the film then. Unfortunately, the owner did not want that footage shared. Another print finally showed up on Ebay, and an in...

Re: The Monkees 1965 Unaired Pilot

Sorry, I'm late to the game on this one. Finally, a topic that I can offer some useful knowledge on. This is technically not the original pilot. It is a revised version of the pilot that, I believe, was taken from a 16mm print owned by Bobby Hart. It's probably the version that sold the show to NBC....

Re: Movie Morlocks First Slapsticon 2013 report

While it’s true that Our Gang comedies often featured one kid temporarily on the outs with the others, what’s disturbing about Your Own Back Yard is the pointed emphasis on Farina’s humiliation and suffering. At the top of the film there’s a typically jaunty intro card, saying the kids are mad at h...

Re: Our Gang Silents on TCM

How sad. To think what could have been if Paul and Laughsmith were able to continue with this project. With a few notable exceptions, these versions of the films shown on TCM are the common versions found on all the unscrupulous dvd sets that you can buy on Ebay and the like. However, the transfers ...

Re: Rodemich, Sharples & the Chaplin Mutuals -- who did what?

Okay, quick update. The Van Beuren cartoon that I mentioned in a previous post with the familiar Gene Rodemich music found in "The Immigrant" is called "Three Little Kittens". Also, here is what I can confirm from the films that I have. Gene Rodemich: "The Floorwalker",...
