RIO RITA trailer with Bert Wheeler number cut from reissue

Here's the original 4-minute trailer for RIO RITA (1929), which includes a glimpse of the Bert Wheeler-Dorothy Lee number "Are You There?" subsequently cut on Selznick's orders for the 1932 reissue:

THE KING AND I Gertrude Lawrence 1951

This is a kinescope fragment from TALK OF THE TOWN (Ed Sullivan Show) featuring Gertrude Lawrence, September 16, 1951. Theme of the program was a tribute to Oscar Hammerstein (who appears at the beginning with Richard Rodgers). A very brief snippet is heard from "I Whistle A Happy Tune," t...

Question re. YOUR TECHNOCRACY AND MINE (1933) Robert Benchley

Does anyone know if this little gem is a bonus item on any video release that came out of Universal?

Photo from POST MORTEMS the still-missing Raymond Griffith talkie

Came across this item today on eBay. Abcdvdvideo sells copies of the old Eddie Brandt's Saturday Matinee photo archives. When you purchased an original still from Brandt 40+ years ago, he'd photograph it in the back room. This reprint from POST MORTEMS at least retained its snipe information, and I ...

Spanish titles on Harry Langdon's SKIRT SHY (1929)

Last year I picked up a 16mm Spanish dub of Harry Langdon's Roach short SKIRT SHY which has these interesting main titles. The film stock dates from 1959. I presume these were done for TV reissue and nontheatrical rentals, there's no mention of Hal Roach or MGM in the credits. I don't buy foreign du...

Re: FREE AND EASY - silent

About 30 years ago I saw the cutting continuity for the "silent version" of FREE AND EASY, also the continuity for the "international version." They are both based on the American talkie version without containing any new "silent" footage. The only difference between th...

1915 Russian version of THE LITTLE CAFÉ

Four years before Max Linder filmed it in 1919, the Lucifer Film Company of Imperial Russia made a short comedy version of Tristan Bernard's 1911 play LE PETIT CAFÉ. Roly-poly Anton Fertner plays the lead in giddy, high-spirited fashion; he was a major star of early silents in Poland and Russia, and...

Re: Tod Brownings Dracula - new book.

By coincidence I was just rereading this thread, and out of curiosity checked eBay; this may no longer be relevant, but here's a copy of the October 1953 FILMS IN REVIEW on eBay right now:
