Re: Okay-----NOW!: CHARLEY CHASE AT HAL ROACH: THE TALKIES VOLUME ONE 1930-31

My Chase DVD set arrived yesterday and the look of these classic shorts is nothing short of excellent, especially on my 65" 4K Sony flat screen! Who needs Blu-Ray?

Nuts! I got a note from Amazon that the Chase DVD scheduled for delivery today is being delayed until Monday. I guess I'm part of that second run. Does that make me an also-ran?

Re: Lehrman's WET AND WARMER

I have a lobby card from "Wet and Warmer", a scan of which is in your future Tom! It's got Heine Conkline and Albert Ray in the scene.

Re: Love Your Neighbor (1930)

Thanks for the correction. TCM has him listed in the program description credits. Oh, well. Guess I'll just delete it from my scheduled DVR recordings. What/when is the Bobby Vernon talkie being mentioned?

Re: YOO-HOO (1932)

Thanks for the interesting link. I have a scene card from another 1932 Warren Doane Universal short titled "Who! Me?". The card shows a group of people including Billy Gilbert and Fred Kelsey. Imdb indicates that George Stevens directed with writing credits going to other Roach personnel l...

Re: No Slapsticon for 2014

Having attended each and every Slapsticon in the history of humanity, this is sad news! Hopefully such a great venue makes a comeback at some point in the near future!

Re: YOU'RE NEXT (1940) Catlett and Collins

I'm with Richard on this one. I find even marginal Columbia shorts entertaining in one fashion or another. A "You're Next" lobby card has been in my collection for years and at the bottom is a clear statement this is "a Columbia short subject presenation." Nowhere on the card is ...

Re: Slapsticon 2013 Reports Thread

Thanks for the kind words concerning the diary, William (I believe we spoke outside the theater a few times). This is mostly an excercise against the coming of dementia. Since this short was not written up in the program I was racking my brain trying to remember when it played. You're quite welcome...

Re: Movie Morlocks First Slapsticon 2013 report

I've attend every Slapsticon and have truly enjoyed each one. That extends to watching the non-stopping cascade of comedies and catching up with my cohorts between screenings. I'd like to genuinely thank Richard and Linda for all their hard work ... Drs. Phil and Andrew for going up and beyond on th...
