Re: Niles Essanay Museum Panel on Keystone Cops

This was a terrifically fun panel that went on waaaaaaaaaaay longer than originally intended (I blame the moderator) but there wasn't a single thing said that wasn't interesting. A tip of the Seguin chapeau to everyone involved.

Re: THE INVADER (1935) Buster Keaton in longer, spanish language version

There's a theory that this is a dub of a French phonetic version shot at the same time as the English. It'd require a bit of side-by-side and some lip reading though! (One day I may actually make the effort!)

Re: Laurel & Hardy Definitive Restorations on Sale at DDD

Robert A. Harris is not incorrect, in my estimation. I've decided to look at this set as a delivery mechanism for the really outstanding bonus material, although a few of films I've seen (BERTH MARKS, HOG WILD) seem to have escaped the overzealous DNR'er. Oddly, the films that aren't "the main ...

Stan OR Ollie - Lobster Films DVD

Official news from France of Lobster Film's 4-disc "Laurel OR Hardy" DVD set, destined for a US blu-ray release in the near future. There's tons of never-before-seen stuff on here, using 2K restorations in this collaboration with the Library of Congress. it's pretty much a must-have; the s...

Gerry Potterton comments on THE RAILRODDER

Here's a short video of director Gerald Potterton discussing a gag from BTHE RAILRODDER. His complete commentary for Buster's last truly great film, alongside cinematographer David de Volpi, was recorded at the 2018 International Buster Keaton Society (Damfinos) convention in Muskegon MI, and will b...

Re: Caught on Camera - Keaton filming in NYC

Oh, and John's mini doc on filming locations on the Criterion disc is, as expected, sensational. I look forward to your upcoming GO WEST contribution to EUREKA's next release! http://eurekavideo.co.uk/movie/buster-keaton-our-hospitality-go-west-college-limited-edition-three-film-box-set/?fbclid=IwAR...

Re: Caught on Camera - Keaton filming in NYC

Yes, apparently they used Glenn's commentary without his knowledge -- a rather mixed blessing as it's good to have it out again (especially for those who don't have the TCM set) but not great for Glenn as he hasn't received so much as a free disc. Such is life in harsh world of classic comedy on phy...
