Thanks for sharing these. Glad to be able to see these after reading Ron Hutchinson's article on this system. Nice to experience these performers recorded for posterity, as well.

This reminded me to look up one of my favorite examples of Sennett kidding his own practice, which I thought was worth a share here:

Re: "Billy Whiskers" (1922)
Hi Richard,
Thanks for this information. These little films at the end of this tape were a bit of a mystery to me over the years -- good to know more about them.
Best regards,
Matt

"Billy Whiskers" (1922)
Does anyone have any info on this series? I came across these shorts on an old VHS tape with some other early films from Video Yesteryear. The notes indicate that they were produced by Hans A. Spanuth and are dated 1922. The video consists of four very short subjects: "The Life of a Fireman,&qu...

Re: FORT LEE SILENT FILM STUDIOS FOOTAGE (1935)
Fascinating. Is this the film that Theodore Huff shot in 1935, GHOST TOWN: THE STORY OF FORT LEE? I believe some of the footage was used in BEFORE HOLLYWOOD, THERE WAS FORT LEE.

Re: Richard M.Roberts Banned from Nitrateville
The pizza parlors came a little too late to use as an arguement against Agee, but during the nostalgia boom of the late 60's-early 70's they were indeed a major place to see silent comedy. I had a Straw Hat, a Shakey's, and a Village Inn Pizza Parlor within bike-riding distance from my home then an...

Re: What Happened to Kalton C. Lahue
Thanks for this information, Richard. I always wondered what had happened to Lahue. As a kid, I would scour the shelves at the public library for anything I could find on silent film and silent comedy, and his book "Cops and Custards" was one of my favorite - informative, well-written and ...

Re: The Boys and The Beau Hunks band
I own the OUR RELATIONS CD and enjoy it quite a bit. There are a lot of fun incidental compositions on that soundtrack, and it's one of my favorite scores (especially the main credits cue, "We're Just a Happy Family") to any of their films aside from WAY OUT WEST. Plus there are extensive ...
